More data,
better decision making
Why invest in better
water consumption data?
Data shows around 25% of UK businesses are using water all day and night. Although some operations may need water 24/7, for the others, it’s likely they have a hidden leak. Not only will this be pushing the cost of water bills up, but it could also be causing unseen damage to the property that insurance may not be able to cover.
But without a smart meter or a dedicated data collection device, you wouldn’t know. And although the smart water meter roll out has started, it’s still in its early days. Many organisations could be waiting up to 10 years before they’re rolled out in their region. So there’s no better time to start investing in data.

Benefits of understanding water usage data
The more data that’s available, the more impact you can have. Understanding how much and how often water is being used on a site can bring a range of benefits, including:
- Spotting unusual consumption patterns quickly (e.g. overnight).
- Comparing usage at different sites or across a portfolio.
- More accurate budgeting and billing.
- Being able to prove the impact of making changes.
- Improving staff safety – manual reads won’t be needed.

Our data collection solutions
We have a range of data collection devices available to support
organisations who use large quantities of water or simply want a way to
automatically collect more regular meter reads.
Devices for high water users

If your organisation sees water as an important, strategic asset that’s vital to daily operations then an Automatic Meter Reader (AMR) could be the right fit. As a general rule, we’d recommend these to businesses where water is one of their largest utility bills with a spend of £3,000 or more each year. If that sounds about right, then we have three devices to choose from.
- Automatic Meter Reader 6s Flow only.
- Automatic Meter Reader 4s Flow only.
- Automatic Meter Reader 4s Flow, Temperature and Pressure.
Each one provides:
- Access to an online portal to view and export the data.
- Detailed usage data – available at 15 minute intervals.
- Alerts to quickly notify key contacts of possible leaks.
- Alarms if water usage reaches an agreed limit.

Devices for lower water users
If water is still an important asset or you’ve experienced big leaks on your pipework in the past, then making sure you have regular daily, weekly or monthly meter reads can help you to keep your spend and water usage on track.
What you need to know about LimpetReaders:
- They’re retro-fitted onto the face of your water meter.
- They take pictures of your meter at the interval you’ve requested.
- A longer-term commitment (5-year purchase term and warranty).
- Your reads can be uploaded into your water retail customer portal.
- Most suitable for those who spend less than £2,000 on water each year.

How you’d benefit from a LimpetReader:
- There’d be no disruption to your water supply to have this installed.
- Minimises health and safety risks of manually reading your water meter.
- Cost effective solution for meters that are hard to read.
- Simple consumption data available at your fingertips.
- Spot unexpected usage in your daily, weekly or monthly data.
